At first, when I was starting to blog, I had a sincere belief that blogging would make me successful simply because of good writing. I believed that in case the content is useful people will automatically discover it.
However, shortly thereafter, I came to a realisation: with no proper on-page SEO even an excellent content is buried on the internet.
When you are an amateur, do not worry. The on-page SEO is not a complex matter. It is nothing more than a series of tiny actions that will assist Google in knowing your content more, so that it could present it to appropriate individuals.
Imagine organizing your room – not decorating it, just having everything in the proper place so that you can find it easily.
I will have a step by step on-page SEO checklist in this guide which is beginner friendly and can be used in each and every blog post. No jargon. No confusing explanations. Only realistic action plan and move on 2025 and above.

Begin with an Easy-to-Find, Keyword-Specific Title.
The first thing that Google reads is your title – and the first thing that your readers read is your title.
Be clear, be simple and incorporate your main keyword normally.
Example:

Force-fitting keywords should be avoided. Just write it in a natural way. I tend to have 4-5 versions of the title and choose the one which seems the most human.
Optimise Your URL (Slug)
Your blog title is to be as short and easy to click as possible.
Bad URL:

Good URL:

Shorter URLs perform better and are more presentable on the social media.
Write a Strong Introduction
In the initial 2-3 lines, it is clear:
- what the post is about
- why it matters
- who it will help
Google has become very attentive to beginnings so as to get the intent.
And readers remain longer when the introduction is pleasant and understandable.
Correct heading structure (H 2, H 3)
Headings are road signs within your contents.
Use:
- H2 for main sections
- H3 for sub-points
- H4 only if needed
This ensures that your material is easy to scan both by Google and human beings.
Add Keywords Naturally
The first common error most beginners commit is to overload the keywords.
But you don’t need to.
Added to it all you need to do is add your key word:
- Title
- First paragraph
- 2-3 H2 or H3 headings
- The conclusion (optional)
And scatter associated words here and there, without cogitation.
Write Paragraphs that are short and simple.
Avoid long blocks of text.
Use:
- short paragraphs
- bullet points
- examples
- bold highlights
Mobile mobile people read and short paragraphs lower the bounce rate.
As an individual, I abide by the max 3-line rule in which a longer paragraph is divided.
Internal Links (Very Important) Use.
Internal links tell Google:
- what content is connected
- what pages do you want to highlight on your site?
- the traffic through your blog.
Link to relevant posts like:
- Beginner guides
- Related tutorials
- Glossary or definitions
This develops topical authority and increases rankings.
Insert External Links to Reliable Sources.
Google gives you a good feeling when you cite credible sources, particularly factual information sources.
Just make sure:
you link to well-known sites
you open them in a new tab
you are not directly connected with competitors.
The presence of external links demonstrates the existence of content and credibility.
Add Optimised Images
Pictures will make your content more interesting.
But they must be:
- Compressed
- In WebP format
- Named properly
- With clean ALT text
Example ALT text:

Optimal result using two to four images per article.
Short, Clean Meta Description.
A meta description is a mini-advert of a blog post.
It must give the readers the information that they will know.
Example:

Keep it under 160 characters.
Check Mobile-Friendliness
Over 7 out of 10 Indian readers are browsers using mobile devices.
Your content should therefore be mobile-friendly:
- short paragraphs
- responsive tables
- properly sized images
This is necessary because mobile-first indexing is used by Google.
Add Frequently Asked Question (Increases Visibility)
By adding 2-4 FAQs at the bottom, you are likely to be shown in:
- People Also Ask
- Featured Snippets
- SGE AI answers
Example FAQs:
- What is on-page SEO?
- What is the number of keywords to be used in a post?
- Will the image optimisation aid in the SEO?
This also enhances interaction.
Multitask Use Schema Markup (If Possible)
Automatic schema is added with the help of such plugins as RankMath or Yoast.
Choose:
- Article Schema
- FAQ Schema
- Breadcrumb Schema
Schema assists Google in getting to know better your content.
End with a Strong CTA
Direct the readers on the further actions:
- Share the article
- Subscribe for SEO tips
- Read the next related blog
An effective CTA enhances the conversion and time spent on the site.
Final Thoughts
On-page SEO does not deal with tricks or short cuts.
It is simply about making Google comprehend your content properly and tourists have pleasure in the process.
This is the basic checklist I was using when I first began, with each post, and in a few months my content began scoring higher even in competitive content.
By doing all these, your blog would certainly become more visible, rank higher and have more active readers.
